Session 8

We start with the interrogation of Pearce, the Halfling male servant of Lady Asta. He had gone upstairs during the party to clear some glasses and turn out some of the lights as the ‘older’ people who had attended the party had left and it was now just the younger attendees when he noticed the body of Master Ovid Asta and alerted the guards.

After a perception check, Leaf and River see that branches have been bent in on two sides of the trees in the grounds and they head off to investigate. River meets a fork and loses the trail. Leaf finds a white wall with a rail on top with a bare dirty human footprint on it. They regroup with the rest of the party and head off over the top of the wall to visit Xanthia’s Tinctures and Tonics in the hopes of identifying the powder.

Xanthia’s is quiet with a summer storm raging. River gets bored as she is unable to steal anything and heads outside. Xanthia identifies the powder as a mix of saltpeter and blue dye. She gives a description of a pale woman with covered hair as the person who bought the saltpeter and the name of a shop where she thinks the blue dye is from.

Outside River tries to steal from a man with a bag but is unsuccessful in her exaggerated fall. She then proceeds to trip the man and call him an ass.

They head over to Flame. On the way, River stealthily placed The Goblin Queen’s Crown on T’ix, who has yet to discover it. T’ix loves the store for its bright clothing. The owner reveals that he has indeed sold blue dye to a woman who gets it delivered via The Common Room. T’ix wants to stay and shop but decides against it with everyone leaving. The crown goes unnoticed.

They head back to The Singing Dragon for the evening where there are three bands playing on rotation: Lady GoGoLiath, Mythrilback, and Polymorph. Obtaining rooms and drinks, they spend the evening dancing and drinking a lot. River, seeing how intoxicated Leaf is, ensures that her room door is fully closed for the evening after she passes out on her bed.

The next morning, River gets up early and heads off for her magic lesson with Pandora. Everyone except for Leaf eats back at the tavern and Mika awakes well rested for the first time in a while.
